Sometimes it’s only in looking back that we realise one step opened a door to possibilities we could never have imagined.

Maison Moemoea has been quietly finding its form.

Listening.
Experimenting.
Returning.

More than anything, I’ve been finding the language to describe what this work has always been. Using sound as my primary medium, Maison Moemoea creates encounters that invite the exploration of our inner worlds and the possibility of threshold experience.

Last weekend, that exploration found its first public expression through Sonic Ground, shared at Wasing’s Summer Solstice as part of my ongoing THRESHOLD project.

Over the coming weeks I’ll begin sharing more of that journey, along with new works and future experiences now beginning to take shape.

Warming up for ‘Recalibration’ at Wasing Estate last night.

‘Recalibration’ was a sharing of reflective sonic memories from my Italian travels this year, layered and recalibrated with sounds created from the live session creating in itself entirely new soundscape….to be shared soon…

A recalibration of memory and of time, A suspension of our understanding of the past and our projections of the future, a recalibration of our present moment.

Captured on iPhone in a very reverby space, just before all phones were switched off for our sound journey.

Hello friends, welcome to our Imagination Atelier.

I’m Emma and I am passionate about exploring creativity and imagination in ways to enrich our well-being and enhance our journey on this planet.

I founded Maison Moemoea to share beautiful creative meditation experiences that allow us to access our own inner imagination journeys.
Clearing space to create on a much deeper level from a place that is sacred and authentic.
Space to recalibrate our mind and body. Space to allow our innate inner wisdom to be heard. Space to be inspired, Space to become architects of our own story.

Our meditation’s harness the power of sonic vibration, visualisation as well as sensory and somatic techniques to allow us to access altered states of consciousness. Taking people from an everyday waking Beta state through to altered states of consciousness from Alpha (Relaxations) to Delta (Meditation) and Theta (Trance) brainwave states. The waves of therapeutic frequencies give nothing for the mind to attach itself, so as the dense acoustic layers build, the process of letting go can begin.

It was my personal journey into finding ways to declutter my ridiculously busy creative mind and my journey into motherhood that led me to study & eventually share the yoga of sound & vibration alongside my creative practice.

I have always had a yearning to inspire & create with people in a way that resonates on a far deeper level so here I am on a mission to share beautiful meditation experiences.
As a set designer I have been creating spaces to tell visual stories for a long time, Moemoea meditations give you the much-needed space to become an architect of your own story.

My goal is to merge the arts with meditation, creating experiences to inspire and ignite the imagination, to encourage the unleashing of authentic creativity, playfulness, personal expansion and happiness. To explore ways in which to enrich our journey in this lifetime.

Some experiences stay with us long after they’ve ended.

Two weeks ago I shared the first public expression of THRESHOLD with around a thousand people at Wasing’s Summer Solstice.

THRESHOLD is my ongoing artistic enquiry into perception, and the ways sound, light and environments can influence our experience of transition, presence and the inner worlds we carry within us. Sonic Ground became its first live chapter.

Over the months leading to the solstice, I returned to Wasing again and again, gathering field recordings of birds, insects, wind, water and weather. Those recordings became the source material for a sound journey, woven together with voice, acoustic instruments and live sound.

Then, just before the work began... much of what I had carefully prepared began to unravel.
Of course, most people would never have known what was unfolding behind the scenes.
As a series of unexpected technical issues unfolded, carefully preparation quickly gave way to improvisation. As technicians worked around me and a thousand people waited, I found myself standing in the very threshold the work had set out to explore.

Outwardly, I appeared calm.
Inside, not quite so much!
Sitting there, steadying my own breathing while inviting everyone else into a practice of listening, I realised I was no longer making the work.
I had become part of it.
I’d set out to explore threshold states, and found myself in one.
In that moment, the work asked of me exactly what it was asking of everyone else:
to listen,
to stay present,
to trust
and to step into the unknown.

The experience reminded me that presence isn’t something we arrive at once everything is under control. It’s something we return to when it isn’t.
Looking back, the whole experience was deeply moving.
I’m deeply grateful to the Wasing team for creating the space for all of this work to exist, and to everyone who listened, supported and shared it.
One of the things I’ll carry with me is the power of being held by a community whose belief allows us to step into possibilities we might never have found alone.

After weeks immersed in field recordings, breath, voice, bowls and layered harmonies, it was unexpectedly moving to see a fleeting moment of the work revealed in another form.

I’ve spent weeks listening to this piece. Today I was able to see it.
